Project

Trans-Texas Corridor 35 (TTC-35) Corridor Engineering Team

Overview

Texas Governor Rick Perry unveiled his early conceptualization of the Trans-Texas Corridor in June 2002 with a report entitled “Crossroads of the Americas:  Trans-Texas Corridor Plan.” This concept envisioned a 4,000 mile network of facilities across the state. Current efforts are focused

 Project Stats:

  • Size: $70 million / 10 years
  • HBMG Role: Subcontractor
  • HBMG Contract: $5.5 million / 10 years
on the development of two major corridors: TTC-35 and TTC-69. HNTB Corporation was awarded the main planning and engineering services contract, overseeing the design, environmental, and comprehensive development agreement (CDA) processes for the various TTC-35 facilities. Because of its size, project leaders immediately knew that public involvement was a key factor in TTC-35’s success.

These leaders looked to HBMG for a solution. HBMG took on the role of providing hardware, network, and software development and ECM/Document Control support.

Collaboration

ECM: HBMG built an additional module to its proprietary eManagers tool (interfaced with FileNET 5.x client server) to incorporate a Public Involvement (PI) tool. The result was an enhanced eManagers collaborative tool that provided more than EDMS functionality. The PI module managed and allowed for report generation of contact data information for elected officials, stakeholders, media, and the public. The EDMS library, called eLogs, continued to satisfy project personnel with the ease and efficiency of the document library, especially with the use of Controlled Vocabulary Lists (CVLs). Customized CVLs allow constrained choices for users and eliminates potential “free text” errors and other document indexing errors.

“The TTC project is dynamic – when Texas’ transportation needs change, we change.  Having a flexible electronic document library like eManagers is essential. Indexing is key, and eManagers allows us to have a variety of ways to index properties to fit our specific needs. When a document is added to EDMS, the expectation is that it can be retrieved with minimal effort in one hour or 50 years down the road,” states Crystal Hansen, Project Controls Manager for the TTC-35 Corridor Engineering Team. HBMG continues to support the project with onsite Information Technology (IT) support HelpDesk and onsite document control/records management expertise.

In the eManagers/FileNET system, over 45,380 documents are housed. The system was implemented in 2003 and includes the eLogs, Task managers, and PI Logs modules.

Collaboration

Collaboration is at the heart of Electronic Content Management. Effective collaboration allows people across the extended enterprise to circulate ideas, experiences and knowledge. Smart organizations look to collaboration technologies in order to increase productivity, lower costs, and enhance existing IT resources. To maximize agility and responsiveness, companies today focus on improving collaboration among employees, partners, and customers. Organizations around the world and from varied industries use Electronic Content Management, or ECM technology to foster collaboration, implement vital process improvements, and to protect and retain mission-critical information.

HBMG Inc. is focused on providing a secure space for sharing ideas and maximizing the intelligence of multiple entities. HBMG has created the eManagers Collaboration Suite to do just this. eManagers allows you to share information anytime and anywhere. It automates document tracking and auditing, and helps teams meet objectives in a secure enclave. People can quickly form cross-functional project teams, capture shared knowledge, manage processes and meet project deadlines across geographic, departmental or company boundaries.

HBMG’s Collaboration Suite may be just the solution to conquer the pressures of changing markets, shrinking margins, and increasing competition.

Security

Protecting your organizations assets is more important and more difficult than ever before. Today's threat landscape comprises far more than DDoS attacks, viruses and worms. To protect against the broad array of internal and external threats, more companies are considering security programs that forge closer ties between the physical and logical security realms. The different security staffs have the same goal—protect enterprise assets and usually they exist as independent factions.  The new economy of the convergence technology, budgetary realities and government initiatives are driving enterprises and agencies to question whether business as usual is hurting the bottom line.  HBMG’s Security Practice helps companies bridge the gap between physical, data and logical security.

Strategy

Change is happening at an increasing pace. Newer technology replaces new technology. Global competition appears in local markets and changes not only the market but value chains. Customers demand more innovation from their partners and providers, changing the face of collaboration. Knowledge of and preparation for the future is a must for survival.

The HBMG Strategic Insights and Futures (SI&F) team provides a range of services to help you focus on the right future path for your organization.
