DAVID SMITH

CEO, HBMG, Inc.

“Plan for the future by looking out the windshield…not just the rear view mirror.”

David Smith is a noted leader in innovation, inspiration speaker, and successful strategic planner. Too often companies and organizations focus on the past and where to go from there, rather than being a future-forward thinker. David Smith looks forward. As a futurist and technologist with over 30 years of experience, he brings a unique approach and breadth of knowledge to his leadership style, consulting and research services. He has created dynamic organizations, led wildly collaborative teams, and generated winning strategies. David’s approach is one of strategic thinking and clear vision. In today’s rapidly changing world, his vision, intuition and creativity make him a leader than can implement the right initiatives for his clients and employees.

He understands that as a futurist one cannot examine isolated areas of business or technology without examining its interconnected relationships, dependencies, and impacts on other such areas. As a boat enthusiast, David is often on the water. Drop a fishing line in the water and the water ripples out horizontally in all directions, not just forward and backwards – it radiates outwards. But more important in the outcome of catching a fish is what is going on above and beneath the surface of the water. All of these factors can change the outcome. All of these factors can change the future.

His future-forward thinking, as well as careful examination of company, technology and societal care-abouts, drive David to be an innovative, astute leader and and an insightful strategist. He is an expert at relating emerging trends to the specific interests of his company and clients and providing a future-focused analysis of what developments and opportunities can be expected in the near and more distant future. He then assists organizations in determining steps to take to be successful in this emerging environment. He offers expertise from many aspects; from technology transfer, strategic and technology planning to communications, road mapping, consortia startup and management, and collaborative alliances. His broad base of knowledge and enterprising outlook help David to usher the way for a future-focused approach to business and technology.

Collaboration

Collaboration is at the heart of Electronic Content Management. Effective collaboration allows people across the extended enterprise to circulate ideas, experiences and knowledge. Smart organizations look to collaboration technologies in order to increase productivity, lower costs, and enhance existing IT resources. To maximize agility and responsiveness, companies today focus on improving collaboration among employees, partners, and customers. Organizations around the world and from varied industries use Electronic Content Management, or ECM technology to foster collaboration, implement vital process improvements, and to protect and retain mission-critical information.

HBMG Inc. is focused on providing a secure space for sharing ideas and maximizing the intelligence of multiple entities. HBMG has created the eManagers Collaboration Suite to do just this. eManagers allows you to share information anytime and anywhere. It automates document tracking and auditing, and helps teams meet objectives in a secure enclave. People can quickly form cross-functional project teams, capture shared knowledge, manage processes and meet project deadlines across geographic, departmental or company boundaries.

HBMG’s Collaboration Suite may be just the solution to conquer the pressures of changing markets, shrinking margins, and increasing competition.

Security

Protecting your organizations assets is more important and more difficult than ever before. Today's threat landscape comprises far more than DDoS attacks, viruses and worms. To protect against the broad array of internal and external threats, more companies are considering security programs that forge closer ties between the physical and logical security realms. The different security staffs have the same goal—protect enterprise assets and usually they exist as independent factions.  The new economy of the convergence technology, budgetary realities and government initiatives are driving enterprises and agencies to question whether business as usual is hurting the bottom line.  HBMG’s Security Practice helps companies bridge the gap between physical, data and logical security.

Strategy

Change is happening at an increasing pace. Newer technology replaces new technology. Global competition appears in local markets and changes not only the market but value chains. Customers demand more innovation from their partners and providers, changing the face of collaboration. Knowledge of and preparation for the future is a must for survival.

The HBMG Strategic Insights and Futures (SI&F) team provides a range of services to help you focus on the right future path for your organization. Experience across a range of industries and technologies has prepared our team to provide insight into how multiple technologies will impact your organization or region in such areas as digital convergence, collaboration, nanotech / biotech / infotech / neurotech fusion, and smart devices.
